Yoga nidra promotes a deep state of relaxation which can help in restoring the body to a state of balance and calm. Many people are curious how this works and how is it different from other forms of meditation. The Yoga Journal explains how the process of yoga nidra shifts us through the various brain waves of beta, alpha, theta, and delta, which is essentially “powering down” our brain activity, and allowing us to slow our thoughts and restore ourselves. Yoga nidra is a form of meditation, however it is different than listening to a guided meditation as it is a different level of body awareness that slows the mind.
