The idea of self-compassion is something most have heard, but many struggle to cultivate for themselves. Cultivating requires small steps of change that overtime accumulate into something larger. Simply thinking about providing yourself self-compassion even after a situation has occurred is moving you in the right direction. Reflecting after or even reflecting in the moment that it may feel challenging to feel compassionate towards yourself is disrupting the ingrained pattern. Here is an image to further this idea.
