My Favourite Local Kid-Friendly Summer Activities

With summer in full swing, and many wanting to soak up the summer moments. I thought I would write a special edition blog with some of my favourite spots in the Ajax and surrounding area for summer and all year round. As I feel getting outside in the summer is so important as well as all year round! Also, I would recommend checking out my blog article “Making the Most of Summertime” while finding the right balance for your family. Below are 4 of my favourite spots to take the kids and family:

1. Rotary Park. This is a location that I feel has something for everyone, from splash pad to cool off, to two park structures (one for smaller kids 0 to 5, and one for older kids), beach front, walking trails, fishing spots, canoe/kayaking opportunities, picnic areas, and large open spaces for gatherings and playing free sport.
2. Greenwood Park. With 283 hectares, numerous hiking trails, and walking paths, this park area is a great opportunity to be in and connect with nature.
3. Paradise Beach Area. This is a beautiful beach in the area, and there are some great trails off the main pathway that heads east from Paradise beach.
4. Toronto Zoo. This is a more of a trek than the locations above, however this zoo is well worth the drive especially for my animal loving kiddos. This can be a great place for all ages with great outside time, great walking, opportunity to learn, a way to support conservation efforts, opportunity to tour around on the “zoo mobile”, and so many animals to see.
